The reclaimed water flowing into the Gallatin River is safe and does not pose a risk to humans. However, the soil turbidity caused by the water flowing over land and into the Gallatin River can potentially cause negative impacts on wildlife or river life. We do not yet know whether these negative impacts will occur, but representatives from Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks and the MDEQ are conducting tests of the waterways to make that determination. Although we do not anticipate any issues with drinking water quality, we are advocating that people with wells downstream have their water tested. The Gallatin River Taskforce is distributing free well sampling kits this week at the Big Sky Post Office on March 8th between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and Yellowstone Club will pay for all well sampling lab fees in the area for the next 12 months.
